INTRODUCTION This course is tailored to meet the statutory requirement for employees in the workplace. The course targets all individuals in any institutions and companies. With increased number of emergencies and disasters in work places there is the need to develop lifesaving knowledge and skills in the work place COURSE OBJECTIVES Learners who successfully complete this Occupational First Aid Training course will: v Understand the responsibilities of the occupational first aider v Provide treatment for the purpose of preserving life or minimizing the consequences of injury until discharge or the arrival of medical assistance. v Provide treatment in the workplace for an injury which does not require the attention of a medical practitioner or nurse. v Be capable of coordinating first aid arrangements in the workplace. v Be familiar with health and safety legislation on first aid provision in the workplace. v Be capable of performing CPR and using an AED v Understand the responsibilities of an Occupational First Aider. COURSE OUTLINE COURSE INTRODUCTION v Unit 1 – First Aid in the Workplace v Unit 2 – Patient Assessment v Unit 3 – Respiratory Emergencies v Unit 4 – Cardiac First Response (including CPR and Defibrillator) v Unit 5 – Wounds and Bleeding v Unit 6 – Altered Levels of Consciousness v Unit 7 – Muscloskeletal Injuries v Unit 8 – Burns and scalds, chemicals, electric shock REQUIREMENTS Participants should be reasonably proficient in English. Applicants must live up to Afriex Training Ltd admission criteria. METHODOLOGY The instructor led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprises of presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web based tutorials and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professional and trainers in these fields. All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English. TRAINING VENUE, LOGISTICS AND PAYMENT v Training is residential and will be held at Afriex Training Centre. v The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments, lunch, and study visits. v Accommodation and airport transfer are arranged upon request by the participant. v This training can also be tailor made for your institution upon request.
