GENDER MAINSTREAMING IN PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT TRAINING

INTRODUCTION

It is a strategy for making women’s as well as men’s concerns and experiences an integral dimension of the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of policies and programs in all political, economic and societal spheres so that women and men benefit equally and inequality is not perpetuated. The ultimate goal is to achieve gender equality

The overall benefit of this course is to provide participants with skills for gender mainstreaming in design and implementation of successful projects. The course can be used to establish/strengthen gender mainstreaming strategies of project management policies and practices both in the public and private sector.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The training is meant for project managers, government officials, CBO operatives, NGO employees, UN Staff and anyone involved in project management activities

DURATION

5 Days

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the participants will be:

v  familiar with the basic concepts of gender, project and program management

v  able to assure that gender is mainstreamed in the project cycle, in identification, formulation, monitoring, and evaluation

v  able to develop a theory of change;

v  able to design project and programs, monitor and evaluate on gender equality;

v  able to assess your organization on strengths and weakness for mainstreaming gender;

v  Leave with a personal action plan for mainstreaming gender in his/her programs and organization.

REQUIREMENTS

Participants should be reasonably proficient in English.  

METHODOLOGY

The instructor led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprises of presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web based tutorials and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professional and trainers in these fields.

All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English

TRAINING VENUE, LOGISTICS AND PAYMENT

v  Training is residential and will be held at Afriex Training Centre.

v  Accommodation and airport transfer are arranged upon request by the participant.
