INTRODUCTION

In order for our work on governance and accountability to have legitimacy, we must first demonstrate good governance and accountability within our organization’s own programs and operations Good governance requires that citizens monitor power-holders and that power-holders evaluate whether their systems and practices produce the intended positive impact on citizens’ lives.

The Monitoring and Evaluation program aims to strengthen capacity in management, monitoring and evaluation. It’s a response to government’s demand for personnel who can accurately measure outputs and outcomes of its interventions as a way of enhancing evidence-based decision-making.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The course is the meant for Government officials and Development advisors involved in the design, implementation, management and oversight of national and sector plans, budgets, programs and projects.

v  Governmental agencies involved with M&E and those interested in M&E.

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the M&E for Governance course participants will be able to:

v  Develop concise understanding of M&E concepts, principles, processes and framework for governance program

v  Achieve a sound understanding of the role that M&E can play in improving project and program management as well as policy decision making.

v  Develop insight in the different stages of the evaluation process and tools/ methodologies that are most appropriate in different types of evaluations.

v  Get familiar with debates on challenges and tools for monitoring and evaluating support of decentralization and local governance.

v  Get tips on how to use PM&E tools for strengthening the capacities of stakeholders of decentralization at the national and local level and for strengthening accountability systems at the municipal level.

v  Understand how the log frame approach promotes evidence based policy making; allows for stakeholders to be involved in the policy cycle and process; supports a targeted, sequenced and long term perspective; and supports clear channels of communication.

REQUIREMENTS

Participants should be reasonably proficient in English. Applicants must live up to Afriex Training Ltd admission criteria.

METHODOLOGY

The instructor led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprises of presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web based tutorials and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professional and trainers in these fields.

All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English
